PARK SERVICES SPECIALIST - 37020592

DESCRIPTION

KNOWLEDGE OF: methods and techniques used in repair and/or maintenance of park facilities, equipment, grounds & historic structures; administrative practices to include but not limited to daily & monthly reports, collection of park fees, purchasing policies, & inventory; the procedures & policies of archaeological, cultural & natural resource management; FPS diving policies.

SKILL IN: using a variety of hand and power tools/equipment; performing grounds and building maintenance; basic plumbing; basic electrical work; good customer service; the operation and use of various kinds of equipment including tractors, zero radius mower, etc.; computer operation and Microsoft Office suite, e-mail, internet.

ABILITY TO: speak in public; work independently; perform a variety of skilled trade functions; perform physical labor using assorted power/gas tools and equipment; participate in all aspects of parks prescribed burn program; utilize canoes and kayaks; accurately prepare reports; collect fees and operate cash registers; understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures; plan and oversee schedules; utilize problem solving techniques; coordinate and conduct meetings, information and orientation programs; recruit & screen volunteers; train & supervise volunteers & staff; assist in program planning; prepare and maintain records; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; establish and maintain effective working relationships with others; work rotating shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays; successfully complete ranger academy; maintain a valid driver's license; successfully complete background and fingerprint check; reside on park property.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
